Just a bit lacking but amazing info May 25, 2010 There is so much information in this book and it really is great, but at times the author rants a bit and there are parts that are very lacking like the keeping of turkeys. No more than a paragraph and that paragraph really lacks necessary information.
Very pleased with this book. May 21, 2010 This book arrived quickly in excellent condition. Full of awesome information on all kinds of subjects that pertain to self sufficiency. I don't believe there's any one book to cover anything because things are constantly changing and evolving. That being said I think this book is full of very useful information that seems to have been gained through experience and not just copied from reference material. It not only has good information on organic gardening and farming (rural and urban) but also includes info on forging metal, home brewing, basket making, weaving and dying, making your own workshops and tools, etc. I saw this book at a friends house and after flipping through I knew I had to have it for myself and my family.

Living the Self-Sufficient Life Mar 05, 2010 Hey!
First I'll give you all my warning: This was written by a man who lived in England. And that is reflected by a lot of the things written inside this book. However, everything it contains can be used in other countries as well. Sure, if you live in a tropical climate, or even a semi-tropical climate, the information may be a little problematic, but I'm sure with some slight adjustments, you can still make it work.
This information comes from a great source, a man who truly lived the self-sufficient life. And, sure, he's a bit annoying about how if you don't live his way, you're living the wrong way, but the publishers seemed to have strived very hard to smother that attitude, and have, for the most part, succeeded. This book allows for the option of living in a suburban neighborhood and still being self-sufficient. It lays out a lot of options, some truly awesome.
One thing I didn't expect before I bought this book: It has recently been expanded to include over 100 pages from The New Self-Sufficent Gardener By: John Seymour. The version I checked out at my local library did not have this, so it was quite a pleasant surprise.
Hope this helps all you potential customers, and happy reading!
Luv ya,
Tashi :)

Great book Jan 25, 2010 I bought this book a little before new years and it has been a wealth of info. Already I have dug trenches, built cages, fences, bought rabbits, and cleared land. This man explains things so simply and clearly, if you don't understand you should probably stop huffing paint. I heartily recommend.
